Question: What do OJ Simpson, Dionne Warwick and Sinbad all have in common? (Hint - it has nothing to do with
a double murder, infomercials for the Psychic Friends Network, or erroneous death reports on Wikipedia.)
Answer: These three are all members of a dubious group of tax scofflaws recently mentioned by name on the
Franchise Tax Board's website.
That's right - since waterboarding is generally frowned upon these days, the Franchise Tax Board is resorting to
public humiliation in an effort to extract back taxes from some of the state's worst offenders. The debts for group
members range from $200,000 to over $26,000,000!
Will it work? According to State Controller, John Chiang, 26 folks have already agreed to pay their debts to avoid
being mentioned on the website. As for OJ, rumor has it that he just signed on with a major publisher to write
a book called "If I Paid It."
