Have you heard about John Snyder, a 17-year IRS veteran, who
was recently arrested and charged with unlawfully accessing tax records of various celebrities and sport figures?
Apparently, in various moments of unbridled curiosity, he looked up information on 197 different stars including
Chevy Chase, Sally Field, Steffi Graf, Vanna White, and members of the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs. (No doubt
he was attempting to discern how the Cubs suffer huge losses every single year.)
If convicted for his unauthorized "research," Snyder faces up to a year in jail, a $250,000 fine, and
a year of supervised release. Alternatively, the DA may levy an even harsher punishment and force him to root for
the Cubs for the rest of his life.
